The annual event took place on 11th December with appropriate Christmas dress, some went to more trouble than others! It was a close fought game and very even right up until the last couple of ends. The Gents just managed to beat the Ladies by 3 shots but the score didn’t matter (at least to the Ladies!) as it was such a fun and lovely afternoon with mulled wine and food afterwards. Thanks to everyone who helped to organise the afternoon and the food and drink. Pictures below!

Back in the Autumn we made arrangements with the Sports Co-ordinator at Oak View School for 60 school children from Year 3 to come and have a try at bowls. We had to wait for the indoor season to finish so that we could run 5 weeks of sessions on a Friday afternoon for an hour and a half with 12 children per session.
So, on Friday April 25th, the school minibus parked up in the car park and in walked 12 beaming faces all eager to find out what they were doing. The children were so receptive to the game and the challenge of their bowl bending like a banana – in their words! (new coaching term adopted). It was a great learning curve for the Coaches – Alison and Pam. On asking the children to take two bowls from the boxes on the table, several had one coloured bowl in one hand and a different coloured bowl in the other! Discussing how to play backhand was also very amusing.
health and safety – checking out the ditch! All ready to have a go!
For the following four Friday’s we had a different group of children all with the same enthusiasm to learn and try something new. They were a pleasure to teach.
Great delivery action!
Thanks to Pam and Alison for the Coaching and to Grant and Mark who helped to support the sessions. Below are some more photos from the five weeks.

The weekend saw the culmination of the indoor bowling season with finals held for all internal competitions. Well done to all the finalists and well done to everyone who helped to run the competitions, provide tea and coffee and food on both days!
