Very well done to everyone who played yesterday, we had some very good opponents who beat us 3 rinks to 1. We did extremely well to get that far in the competition and can be rightly proud of our achievement. Thank you to all the supporters who came along – picnics and all. Welwyn Garden City kindly provided tea and cake for players and supporters and we thank them for their hospitality. We wish Herts Bowls Club good luck in their next round!
Women’s Top Club – Area Final
Hatfield Ladies will be playing on Sunday 15th August at 12.00pm against Herts Bowls Club in the Area Final of the Top Club competition. The fixture is on a neutral green and Welwyn Garden City have been kind enough to offer their green for this match. Huge thanks to all at WGC!
Come along and support our team on the day – we are only 3 wins away from playing in the All England Quarter Finals at Leamington!
Bowlers v Social Members Event
Dee kindly took some photos on Sunday when the bowlers played the social members.
The event started with a spider to win a bottle of Whiskey, which was won by one of our regular social members, Mark.
There was a good turnout so plays was on 5 rinks, and lots of laughter and fun could be seen and heard. Some of the social members should really take this game up as they showed good technique and potential skill.
After the match everyone enjoyed a lovely BBQ organised by the social members so we were grateful for the good weather to sit outside and enjoy it.
Unfortunately the day ended with the disappointing result in the Euro football final but the positive for the club was that the bar takings were good!
Ladies County Unbadged Quarter Finals – 7th July

Ron Gray Trophy – goes home!
The second leg of the Ron Gray Trophy match was played at Harperbury Bowls Club on 27th June. Unfortunately for Hatfield we had to surrender the trophy after winning it for the past four summer playing seasons. Ron watched the match and gave a very nice speech before awarding Debbie Trollope the Trophy. Congratulations to Harperbury for winning both the home and away matches!
